The Tweetup at Webster University with Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey started to trend (over 1 million “tweets”) about halfway through the event. Dean Benjamin Ola Akande intro
duced Jack, a St. Louis native, who spoke about his upbringing in his hometown and the career that led him to create this phenomenal platform.
I caught up with some of my friends at this well-attended Tweetup, and my camera captured some of the special (albeit fuzzy) moments. The backdrop of some of the humorous real-time “tweets” brought lots of laughs from the crowd. For example, after a few long-winded questions, someone posted “all questions should be 140 characters or less.” Jack received the 2009 Person of the Year award for Webster University. He also received a custom “Twitter blue” catcher’s mitt from Rawlings and a personalized baseball bat from the St. Louis Cardinals. He will be throwing out the first pitch at tonight’s game.
