Social Media Plan Building Your Personal Social Media Plan

It was a pleasure to be part of an informative presentation given by the dynamic duo of Ed and Ann Marie Mayuga at GO! Network on August 31. Their PR firm, AMM Communications, began in 2008, and it was recently named one of the top 25 best public relations firms in St. Louis by the St. Louis Small Business Monthly. GO! Network is a community initiative that empowers personal and professional growth through life, education and career opportunities.

The three of us shared our experiences in building a social media presence to establish credibility, exchange compelling content and make valuable connections. Several of the members took an active role in participating in the discussions, which revolved around getting started and utilizing tools to manage the process.

The platforms that I use on a regular basis include this WordPress blog, LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook.  With Hootsuite, I can view my Twitter and Facebook feeds and schedule posts in advance. Netvibes provides a personalized dashboard built with widgets that can be customized to show social media and news sources at a glance. Mobile applications are available on each of these platforms. For up-to-the-minute research, check out Twitter Search, Google Realtime, STLTweets and Social Mention.
