Wordpress is the largest self-hosted blogging tool created by and for community.  As an Open Source project, it is an extraordinary way for people all over the world to create, communicate and collaborate.  I started out with a simple blog as a way to share my photography, exercise my writing skills and connect with people online.  A friend introduced me to the Church theme, and I figured out how to set up a hosted site and incorporate it into my blog.  The upgraded themes provide more flexibility and forms of expression.  Now I’m switching to Thesis because I like the clean look and extended capabilities.  There is a lot to learn, but on Day 13 of the Social Media Challenge, it’s a labor of love that helps me help other people share what they have to offer. Over the next several days, I’ll be experiencing more of the beauty of Wordpress.

Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy. - Anne Frank

It’s Day 2 of my 60-Day Social Media Challenge, a program designed to create positive action and results from interaction.  While the action is up to me, it’s the interaction that reinforces it.  Here are 5 habits that can make a difference:

  1. Schedule posts for maximum reach and productivity
  2. Regularly read and respond to relevant posts
  3. Make new friends…and keep up with the current ones
  4. Meet contacts at events or one-on-one meetings
  5. Seek feedback and advice from connections
