The film The Soloist is a true story about Steve Lopez, a journalist who befriended a street violinist who was plagued with paranoid schizophrenia. Robert Downey Jr. did a brilliant job of depicting the author whose life was changed by Nathaniel Ayers, played by the multi-talented Jamie Foxx. In this video, violinist Robert Gupta describes his experience with giving lessons to Nathaniel and the effect it had on him. You can’t help but be powerfully moved by this tale of taming the noise by finding your music.
