The Social Media Club in St. Louis gathered last night at Gio’s, a downtown restaurant sandwiched between Kiener Plaza and Citygarden. It was a delicious ending to the first half of 2010. The get together was a celebration of the revolution of media becoming a social dialog that was inspired by a global Mashable Meetup . There were over 600 Meetups in 93 countries.
It was a pleasure to catch up and connect with this fun group. Many of us have linked up, tweeted and intermingled on our Facebook feeds, but getting together live and in person is the best part of being in the Social Media Club. The group usually meets the third Thursday of the month.
One of the topics that came up in our conversations was the use of WordPress for blogging. I didn’t realize that THE blog of social media was built on a WordPress platform. There is a WordPress podcast interview with Pete Cashmore, Joost de Valk and Frederick Townes that reveals why it works for the Mashable blog. Check it out here!
